Southern Tier's Phin & Matt's "Extraordinary Ale" REVIEW

Type: American Pale Ale

ABV: 5.4%

Color: An attractive transparent golden orange with a small bubbly white head

Aroma: Mild bitter bite when first sniffed. Some sweetness comes through near the end with maybe orange or light grapefruit essence.

Taste: Not that bitter at all, very mild  with some citrus. The taste of alcohol is definately not subtle...Its inyour face...I know the ABV doesn't represent it, but it is there. The finish is uneventful and fades quickly after the swallow.

Overall: This brew is everything but "Extraordinary". Nothing different from the many other American Pale Ales out there.Sorry Southern Tier, I enjoyed a few of your other beers, but this one is to normal to be great.

Dogfish Head - BURTON BATON Review

Type: Oak-aged Imperial IPA

ABV: 10%

Color: Beautiful Translucent Brown with hints of orange...Some light lacing that dwindles as the volume goes down.

Aroma: Candied sweetness...maybe raisins or plums. Malt and oak come through strong with some vanilla at the finish

Taste: Up front hit of bitter and alcohol then the sweetness from the malt comes forth. The Dark fruits whatever they are come up to smooth it all out.

Overall: Decent. The taste of alcohol is almost too much but the malt and fruit hints save the day...No aftertaste as the sweetness subtly overwhelms the bitter and alcohol nicely.

Score: 7.8/10

EVOLUTION CRAFT BREWERY - Summer Session Review

Evolution Craft Brewing

Type: Summer Seasonal(Hefeweizen-esque)

ABV: 4.6%

Color: Translucent Golden Yellow with a slight haze. A nice white flat head is created when poured, hangs for a little than dicipates quickly.

Aroma: Light hop nose with some hints of sweetness sneaking through...Citrus, and rye are the most significant.

Taste: Very light bodied with a refeshing dryness. Not too bitter, just bitter enough to make me happy. Some grain taste is there with a  twinge of sweet light malt.

Overall: Completely enjoyable...smooth, with a nice balance of dryness sweetness and malt. Semi-foggy, wheat-beeresque. The only thing missing would be a slightly higher ABV...but it being a summer beer, they usually don't get up there in ABV anyways. If your in the region and want to try a great refreshing brew... Get to Delmar, Delaware and get yourself a growler of this.

Score: 9.0/10.0
