BELGIAN'S BOSTEELS Brewery - Tripel Karmeliet Review

Type: 3 Grain "Tripel"

ABV: 8.4%

Color: Cloudy but gorgeous golden-yellow body with a nice thick "rocks and cliffs" white head.

Aroma: Sweet maltiness with intriguing fruit and floral notes. Small spicy touches and a dab of vanilla.

Taste: Orange and some lemon pop right from the onset. Spice hits the back of the tongue and doesn't let go. Strong grain presence more-so than any hop bitterness. It finishes off mellow and clean.

Overall: Full bodied and slightly weighty. Some might not enjoy the boldness of the spice, but i do. The citrus tones are full and abundant. This is how a Belgian Beer is supposed to be...clean and strong but still chilled out enough to go down easy.

Score: 8/10

FLYING DOG BREWERY - Snake Dog IPA Review

Type: India Pale Ale

ABV: 7.1%

Color: Very cool translucent orange with yellow hues at the base.

Aroma: First note to hit you is the citrusiness of the hop, then a slight hint of what I think would be, Caramel?...could be wrong but in the same category though.

Taste: Nicely bitter in the beginning, then some touches of  that orange, and a tad bit of spice that tickles your tongue. The finish is a welcome chilled out dryness.

Overall: The nice nose leads to an even nicer sensation for the mouths senses...Bitter and sweet balanced well, and a good dryness that hits the right spot.

Harpoon Brewery Summer Beer Review

Type: Kolsch

ABV: 5%

Color: Crayola clear yellow with a minimal white head and very light lacing.

Aroma: Floral and hops abound with a hint of light citrus.

Taste Sweet light malt with a mellow hop presence. Some light spice. A tad dry with a light body that coats the tongue nicely.

Overall: The key term in describing this brew is "Light". It could be called "Harpoon Light". It follows the traditional Kolsch style to a tee. Definitely reminds me of being at a Biergarten in Cologne swinging around a huge glass and singing songs on a lazy summer day.

Score: 7.9/10.

Sierra Nevada - Summerfest 2010 Review

Type: Pilsner

ABV: 5%

Color: Translucent shiny golden yellow with a full one finger thick head.

Aroma: Hoppy citrus is very forward with sweetness of lime or maybe lemon coming through the most.

Taste: Smooth and bitter, with a dryness deep enough that my mother would enjoy. The citrus is in there, very subtle but there nonetheless. The finish is a tad spicy with a mild taste of the alcohol.

Overall: If my mother says she would drink this, I would start to worry...but on this occasion she is ahead of the curve. Very clean and nicely dry, with a good mix of sweetness and bitter. Keep up the great brews SN.

TROEG'S Sunshine Pils Review

Type: Pilsner

ABV: 5.3%

Color: Beautiful bright straw yellow. Light white head with minimal lacing.

Aroma: Tremendously sweet. Like nectar from a fresh cut orange. Hop presence is in there but is muted. Very little maltiness or spice at all.

Taste: First notice is the dryness which is light but it is definitely there. The soft wash of citrus(not as powerful as the scent) and florals hit next. Then the hoppiness comes from behind and hangs in the back of your throat til the next step. A light buttery taste coats the tongue nicely

Overall: I was expecting alot from this beer after the first smell.I was unforunately underwhelmed. It is good, don't get me wrong. I was just hoping for a citrus burst on first swig, that didn't really come through. Nice light and refreshing. Worthy of a few bottles on a hot summer afternoon.

Score: 7.8/10

Fordham Brewing - Queen Anne Kolsch Review

Type: American Style Kolsch

ABV: 5%

Color: Mid toned golden-yellow with a slight hue of brown

Aroma: Crisp flora nose with subtle hoppiness that hangs well

Taste: Refreshing light citrus front with light body, and a medium depth of hop. Turns slightly sweet, then the dry comes out to finish it off.

Overall: Not bad, a basic kolsch. The beer is balanced well and has a very distinct part between the bitter and malty sweet. I like the mellowness of the dry that closes the taste out.

Score: 7.3/10

Blue Point Brewing - Hoptical Illusion Review

Type: American India Pale Ale

ABV: 6.8%

Color: Nice golden amber with with a creamy thin lacey head.

Aroma: Interesting subtle hop with citrus accents...Orange, and a touch of lemon. Very clean and very refreshing.

Taste: Nice bitter punch in the front, then dryness comes in and kills it nicely. Some pleasant citrus touches intermingle with the dry bitterness. Finishes with a tingle that lingers in the back of the tongue.

Overall: Great Beer...Well balanced between hop bitterness, the citrus accents, and light malt.goes down easy and has me craving another, and another, and another...Oh, plus the label is pretty cool.

SOUTHERN TIER BREWERY - IPA Review

Type: American style Indian Pale Ale

ABV: 6.9%

Color: Nice clear Golden-orange with a frothy white head lasts for a good long time while sitting in the glass.

Aroma: Sweet Orange to a light grapefruit. Nice bitterness, but not too strong. The orange essence is the most upfront scent.

Taste: Full bodied with a nice hop front that gets pulled back by the sweetness of the orange zest...actually I would say more of an orange rind, than zest. Some lingering bitterness that is much welcomed, and then a nice touch of malt to close it up.

Overall: I'm not surprised that STBC has put together a very positive review worthy IPA. Most are the same song and dance. This one goes one step further with an orange infusion that is pleasant and welcomed.

Score: 8.4/10

Evolution Craft Brewery - PRIMAL PALE ALE Review

Type: American Pale Ale

ABV: 5%

Color: Amber yellow with a very thin white lacing head

Aroma: Grassy citrus earthy tone, with a small amount of spice. Mild malt sweetness is there, but not the dominant note

Taste: Clean and very refreshing. The malt hits first...a light sweetness that gives way to nice hop bitterness. There is a welcome dryness that evens it all out. I get a little earthiness, maybe pine in the body.

Overall: I like it alot. Would best be paired with semi-spicy foods, like seafood. The overall body is full but not filling. The dryness is what brings the whole beer together. Good job EVO.
